Depeche Mode Singer Dave Gahan in Hospital in Athens, Greece

Dave Gahan, the lead singer of Depeche Mode was rushed to the hospital in Athens, Greece forcing the band to cancel their show. According to the reports, 47 year old Dave Gahan was treated by a private clinic for “suspected gastroenteritis”.

20,000 Depeche Mode fans gather in the Terra Vibe park to see the band but were told by the organizer that the concert had to be cancelled because Dave Gahan fell ill.

Depeche Mode is currently on tour promoting their newly released album Sounds of the Universe. The Tour of the Universe has gigs lined up all the way till February 2010. There have been no indication whether Dave’s illness could result in further show cancellations. Hope he pulls through. I’ve been listening to Depeche mode since I was a young teenager. Strange Love is still one of my most favorite songs, even though most Depeche Mode fans don’t consider it anything special. It’s also a shame that I have never seen Depeche Mode live and I did check out their tour schedule but they only have two shows lined up in Canada, both on the East. That sucks! Anyway, I want to wish strength to Dave Gahan. Hope he pulls through and the band gets back on the road.

Darius Goes West - Story of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Suffering Darius Weems

Darius Goes West is an award winning movie about 15 year old Darius Weems who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The documentary follows the journey of Darius Weems and his eleven friends as they go across America to Los Angeles where Darius is hoping to get his wheelchair pimped out by MTV’s Pimp My Ride.

Darius Goes West is an extraordinary and touching documentary. Because of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Darius Weems had never left his home town of Athens, Georgia. Then in 2005, when he was 15 he set out on his epic journey along with his friends and the film crew under direction of Logan Smalley. Since then, the movie has won awards at 27 film festivals.

Darius Weems is now 18 year old and the crew who previously got together to film Darius Goes West are back together again, this time with a mission to sell one million copies of the movie on DVD. The discs sell for $20, and with each DVD sold, $17 will go towards the efforts to treat or cure Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This genetic disease claimed the life of Darius’ brother who died at the age of 19. On a worldwide scale, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the #1 terminal genetic disease for children.
