Oscar is a cockatoo that suffers from beak and feather disease which is affecting her immune system. Despite her boyish name, Oscar is a girl and her disease causes irritation as her feathers grow so she ends up plucking them all out. The few feathers she still has left on her head are still there because she can’t reach them. But they cause discomfort just as any other feather on her body.
The beak and feather disease will eventually affect her beak and nails and that will be her time. Until then, Oscar remains the permanent resident of Humane Society of Broward County where she dances and entertains everybody.
