Haisong Jiang – Man Behind Newark Airport Shutdown
January 9th, 2010Meet Haisong Jiang, 28 year old man who triggered the shutdown of Newark airport terminal by sneaking through security checkpoint from the sterile side back to the unscreened side. Haisong Jiang was apprehended by the police and interrogated at the Port Authority Police building at Newark Airport in Newark, N.J. The police learned that Haisong Jiang wanted to bid his girlfriend good bye, which was the reason he went back to the other side. He didn’t realize it would wreak complete havoc and result in shutdown of an entire terminal at Newark.
As a result of his behavior, Haisong Jiang is facing trespassing charge and a fine of up to $500. Haisong Jiang lives in Piscataway, New Jersey but was born in Jiangxi, China. He moved to the United States in 2004. I don’t understand how he can be 28 year old. He looks more like 40 to me. I also understand that he didn’t mean no harm, but he caused a lot of damage, delayed and frustrated thousands of people yet he was fined $500. That leaves me speechless.
