Madonna finalized her massive 10-year deal with Live Nation on Tuesday (October 16), although the exact terms have yet to be disclosed. The deal involves Madonna’s new studio efforts, tours, merchandise, DVD releases, sponsorships, licensing agreements, fan club, Web site, and TV and film projects. “The paradigm in the music business has shifted, and as an artist and a businesswoman, I have to move with that shift,” Madonna said in a statement. “For the first time in my career, the way that my music can reach my fans is unlimited. I’ve never wanted to think in a limited way and with this new partnership, the possibilities are endless. Who knows how my albums will be distributed in the future? That’s what’s exciting about this deal — everything is possible. Live Nation has offered me a true partnership, and after 25 years in the business, I feel that I deserve that.” Madonna did, however, have some kind words to say about former label Warner Bros.: “I appreciate their hard work and value the many relationships I have developed over the years with the label in the U.S. and around the world. I have an album coming out with them next year, and I’m excited about it. We still have work to do together.” Live Nation also announced a new Artist Nation arm that will launch with Madonna and have divisions dedicated to dealing with an artist’s recorded music, merchandise, concert tickets, sponsorships, marketing and more.

An Indian court tossed out a claim made by the “Harry Potter” author that sought damages from the organizers of a four-day religious carnival for building a replica of Hogwarts Castle. Rowling and her publishers wanted the equivalent of $50,000 from the organizers, but the Delhi High Court disagreed. The court did, however, order that characters from the massively popular book series not be used in the event and say that permission to exhibit the castle would expire on October 26. The castle is constructed out of canvas, papier mâché and bamboo. …

More disturbing information has surfaced concerning alleged animal abuse at rapper DMX’s Arizona home. According to a report in The Arizona Republic, several of the 12 undernourished pit bulls recovered from the grounds back in August suffered from valley fever, an infectious lung disease that also affects humans. Also, three dogs that were discovered buried in the rapper’s backyard may have died from heat after air conditioning in the house reportedly broke down. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, which is still investigating the matter, told the Republic that a “usable amount of marijuana” was also recovered from the rapper’s home, along with a small amount of cocaine. The cause of death of the three dogs, which showed signs of bruising, could not be determined, as their bodies were severely decomposed. Two burned dogs, a 20-pound puppy and a 40-pound female, were found together, wrapped in a beige bed sheet and placed inside a plastic bag.
Kiefer Sutherland released a statement in regards to his recent DUI arrest, for which he will have to serve 30 days in county jail. “I’m very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I’m deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on ‘24′ and at 20th Century Fox. I appreciate the support and concern that has been extended to me these last weeks both personally and professionally.” He will be sentenced December 21.
Lindsay Lohan told In Touch that rehab was a “sobering” experience for her. Lindsay made that confession in her first interview since leaving Utah’s Cirque Lodge Treatment Center on Friday. Even though she went to the clubs to party right after finishing a rehab, Lindsay Lohan stressed that she’s not going to be rekindling her nightlife anytime soon. To avoid possible distractions (it’s not like she can actually go without clubs for too long wherever she goes), Lindsey Lohan will be staying in Utah until she starts shooting the upcoming flick “Dare to Love Me.”
When Radiohead released their album “In Rainbows” they offered the pay-what-you-want download scheme which astonished music fans and critics alike. At present time, Radiohead are finilizing their deal with a major label which should take care of album distribution. Radiohead manager told BBC Radio 4 in an interview that they expect to sign a deal within the week.
Nirvana’s historic “MTV Unplugged in New York” performance will finally be released on DVD. Due date is set to November 20, 2007 and it will contain all 66 minutes of unedited show, including “Something in the Way” and “Oh, Me,” which were featured on previouslly released CD but not in the originally aired show as well as previously unreleased rehearsal and documentary footage.
Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins is making himself heard in order to help the family of Dr. Robert Moog preserve the late electronic-synthesizer pioneer’s legacy. The Bob Moog Foundation, which was created after Bob’s death in 2005, is planning to open a Bob Moog Museum and looking to preserve decaying Moog artifacts — schematics, Moog prototypes, reel-to-reel tapes and beyond.
