Haha sharkman I am with you on that one. I am in the Navy Seal training pipeline as I write this and it is hilarious! The captain was held without food and little water for 3 days on a lifeboat without air conditioning in the blazing heat off the coast of Somalia. Also, if you watch the actual footage of the incident, one of the pirates pops out of the front hatch of the boat shooting his AK-47 and the USS Bainbridge. Also, one of the “pirates” were taken aboard the Bainbridge and given full care for his sickness because he was having “Khat” withdrawls. Khat is a highly addictive stimulant. So I would say that Captian Richards life WAS in fact in imminent danger by the conditions he was being held and by the low life, good for nothing, scum of the earth Somalians who were high off Khat while holding AK-47s at the captains head as well as shooting rounds at the USS Bainbridge. Get your facts right you dumb mother fucker and suck a fat COCK!

Because people automatically believe without checking the validity of the source or whether the source has alterior motives, this type of thing gets spread all over the internet. Many websites do not check the accuracy or facts of things that are published on them. Before getting angry, it would be best to check the source.

Wow.
You obviously don’t know anything about the military for one. My best friend is a navy seal and he’s been on tour in Afghanistan 3 times already. He and his other buddies normal people, not blood thirsty monsters. Secondly, say there was a hostage situation at a bank with armed criminals and the police had a chance to defuse it using sniper teams. Do you honestly think that they wouldn’t do it? Innocent people could DIE if they don’t. Now pirates are not known for their kindness, they’ve boarded ships and killed the crew members in the past. It doesn’t make any difference how they treated the captain prior. They are criminals who know full well what they’re getting into. If you should sympathize with anyone it should be the seal team that has to live with the fact that they’ve killed for the rest of their lives. Also, I don’t know what you consider “imminent danger” but having multiple people with guns bargaining for your life is definitely imminent.

Lets think about this. When three people hold someone hostage for personal gain, and threaten to harm that individual if their demands are not met, then to take them seriously and and use forceful means, to exterminate them is murder?
Three things are apparent from your writing.
You don’t know the people who were given the orders to shoot, you don’t know the person who gave the order, you didn’t know the militants or the hostages. It is likely that they were given fair chance to surrender completely to save their lives. Anyone who holds hostages for greed should not be negotiated with beyond a warning and being neutralized, by any means necessary. If you do something that stupid, be prepared to face the consequences.
