2010 World's Richest Man - Carlos Slim of Mexico

Carlos Slim Helú, a Mexican guy who controls telecommunication industry in Mexico ranks are the world’s richest man for 2010 ousting Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. According to just published Forbes list of billionaires for 2010, net worth of Carlos Slim Helú is $53.5 Billion US, which half a billion more than Bill Gates’ worth who ranked second with the sum of $53 Billion US. Given billions upon billions of his own dollars that Bill Gates gives to charities every year through Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates remains the richest man in the world despite Carlos Slim banking in an additional $500 Million.

Mexico, as we all know is a war zone. One of the most dangerous places in the world, right up there with other super dangerous countries such as The Philippines, riddled with gang wars that try to outdo one another with brutality. There are more murders in Mexico each year, than in Iraq and Afghanistan combined and that’s where the rule of Carlos Slim Helú is set in. Whether he’s the world’s richest man on paper for 2010 or not, Bill Gates remains the real richest man in the world. But take a look at who else is in top ten richest men in the world – mining and energy tycoons from south Asia and South America. The full list of World’s Richest Men for 2010 as published by Forbes is below:

Massimo Tartaglia Punched Silvio Berlusconi in the Face, Blood All Over

You don’t see a picture like this often. Silvio Berlusconi, Italian Prime Minister, a billionaire, the owner of AC Milan football club and an Italian media magnate gave speech in Milan after which a man called Massimo Tartaglia approached him and punched him in the face so hard blood covered the mug of Silvio Berlusconi. Big deal in Italy. I’m assuming Massimo Tartaglia will vanish from the surface of the planet without a trace in the next few days.

Silvio Berlusconi was in Milan to give speech to thousands of his supporters who were waving Italian flags. Reports say that Massimo Tartaglia received 10 years of mental hospital treatment in the past. They must also have punching bags in Italian mental institutes.

Silvio Belusconi was taken to a hospital where he will be observed for 24 hours. No big deal. He’s just gonna have a fat lip for a few days and maybe a little scar after as it looks like Massimo Tartaglia did bust his lip pretty well. Silvio Berlusconi has been under criticism for alleged mafia ties in Italy lately. He refused the allegations but the opposition doesn’t want to accept it. Silvio Berlusconi is currently serving his third stint as Prime Minister of Italy which he started in May 2008. He’s been photographed with many women and his wife, actress Veronica Lario eventually filed for divorce.

The video of the mess with bloodied Silvio Berlusconi and images of attacker Massimo Tartaglia who made his Prime Minister bleed is below. It contains some blood so exercise caution before clicking on play button:

Copy of the Bill of Russian Billionaire Roman Abramovich from Nelly’s in New York ($47,000)

Have you ever wondered what rich people eat and drink when they enter poshy establishments in metropolitan cities? Well, now you can find out. Pictured above is the copy of the bill Russian billionaire and the owner of Chelsea Football Club – Roman Abramovich paid during his stop at Nelly’s in New York.

The $47,000 bill Roman Abramovich picked up covered food and drink for himself and five friends. Most of the items are not that bad, just with upscale establishment prices ($27 for a capuccino), the bil grew into tens of thousands of dollars with bottles of expensive wines. Roman Abramovich won’t drink just about any wine, he must have La Tache Romanee Conti, a wine that costs $5000 per bottle. To keep the mood going, the party got additional two bottles of Chateau Petrus, another expensive wine that costs $5k per bottle and then there are also two bottles of Crystal Rose Magnum which are just as expensive. Must have been nice being a waiter who got Roman Abramovich and his people to serve to. 20% gratuity ended up being over $7000.

EDIT:

Beer Steak Blog has been notified about the following:

This bill did not belong to Roman Abramovich. He and his party spent only about 3% of this amount in that restaurant. Furthermore, he and his party of 5 (half of whom do not drink) did not order 6 bottles of alcohol for an 75-minute lunch.
