Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill 2010 - BP Corporate Greed Wins!

Ever since the oil started spilling into the Gulf of Mexico after the rig Deepwater Horizon exploded on April 20, 2010, BP has been lying to people. At first they said that around 1,000 gallons of oils leaks into the sea every day, then it was 5,000 gallons a day and then the underwater video of the pipe gushing oil into Gulf of Mexico was posted on the internet and everyone with half a brain could see that the estimates were purposefully low. There are several litres of oil that get spewed into the sea every second. It’s a disastrous amount, definitely more than 5,000 gallons a day (see video below).

BP now claims that they are capturing about 5,000 gallons of oil from the leaking pipe every day. This basically proves that their initial estimates were way off and didn’t reflect the reality. But the most shocking fact about BP’s efforts is that instead of stopping the leak to prevent this ecological disaster from continuing, they focused on salvaging as much of the wasting oil as possible. As it always goes, none of the mainstream media picked up on it. It took me, the blogger to point the finger and say the truth out loud.

BP’s corporate greed won. In the name of preventing the ecological disaster, they are doing their darnest to capture as much of the leaking oil as possible because each litre captured is money in their pocket. And it makes them look like they are doing something for the environment now that poop has already hit the fan. Look at it this way:

The very last interest of any oil conglomerate is the environment. Why would it be otherwise? Carbon footprint of the modern civilization exists because oil companies make sure we are dependent on their source of wealth. It is natural that non oil dependent, environment friendly solutions endanger their positions. Oil companies make so much money selling oil, they can easily afford to lobby against and boycott production of electric cars, halt implementation of maglev trains and put a plug on every other means of sustainable transportation or production of energy. Their corporate greed has been on the win side since the first oil well was drilled and is now as strong as ever. And we’re supposed to believe that efforts put into containing the Gulf of Mexico oil spill by BP are environment focused? Forget it – they are solely and strictly profit focused. BP is doing everything to make the most out of the disaster hence the efforts to capture as much of the leaking oil as possible before any other efforts.

The scary part is that Hurricane season will start in the Caribbean soon. Too much oil has already been spilled and continues being spilled every day, but when hurricanes come and start stirring the seas, creating huge waves that will hammer the shorelines and halt all efforts to stop the spill, then we could see the oil affecting much broader a landmass than imaginable. Meanwhile, the corporate greed of oil companies continues to grow as fast as the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Video of the oil leak shows the pipe that’s 20″ in diameter spewing litres of oil into the Gulf of Mexico every second:

Jellyfish Facts

Let’s take a look at a few interesting jellyfish facts. Now, I know exactly what you’re thinking. You want to know why would I want to talk about jellyfish facts. To be honest, I’ve been really into this whole life below the surface of the sea lately and started working towards getting some scuba diving experience so I can get to know these sea creatures from up close and personal, in their own, native environment. Back to one of the most fascinating sea creatures, the jellyfish:

Jellyfish Fact #1: Jellyfish to Rule the Oceans

Because we the dumb humans keep overfishing the oceans, giant jellyfish such as the Echizen Jellyfish seen in picture above are taking over parts of the oceans, especially around South East Asia, The Gulf of Mexico, The Black Sea and The North Sea. Jellyfish strive because overfishing and climate change result in fewer fish in the seas giving more room to jellyfish to reproduce unhindered. It’s gotten far enough for researchers to believe that “jellyfish stable state”, a state in which jellyfish will rule the oceans is near.

Jellyfish Fact #2: Immortal Jellyfish

Yet another reason why numbers of jellyfish in the oceans seem to be growing rapidly as of late is the fact that certain species of jellyfish don’t have to die. Marine biologists discovered that Turritopsis Nutricula is the only animal known as hydrozoan, which means it can revert itself entirely to the state when it was young. This type of jellyfish somehow developed the ability to transdifferentiate. Transdifferentiation is the process of cell development in which the cell grows younger, not older. Scientists say that this jellyfish can repeat the process of transdifferentiation indefinitely which renders the creature potentially immortal. Observed Turritopsis Nutricula jellyfish, which are mere 5 millimetres long returned themselves repeatedly to a polyp state.

Jellyfish Fact #3: Jellyfish as Malaria and Dengue Fever Solution

While millions of dollars and years of research have been invested into a solution which could assist with desperate malaria and dengue fever infections situation in some parts of the world, so far there have been no help for endemic areas. Yet there is simple solution – white jellyfish love mosquito larvae. There is at least one biologists who sees that as a solution. Dr. Lisa Gershwin from Launceston in Australian Tasmania believes that Craspedacusta Sowerbyi, one of fresh water jellyfish which can strive in small bodies of water and loves mosquito larvae could easily turn into a natural mosquito eliminator. Since introduction of other mosquito predators, such as spiders or bats have not resulted in significant drop in mosquito infestations, perhaps attacking mosquito larvae with white jellyfish could yield better results.

Jellyfish Fact #4: Jellyfish Biology

Jellyfish Trivia: Did you know that jellyfish’s mouth and jellyfish’s anus are one and the same? It’s true. Jellyfish have one digestive cavity which serves the purpose of gullet, intestine and stomach all in one. What jellyfish eats goes in through the same opening as what jellyfish poops out. While jellyfish do have a mouth and an anus, they don’t have bones, brain or heart. 98% of jellyfish’s body is made of water. No wonder they near disappear when they are washed up on the shore.

More interestingly, jellyfish are radially symmetrical. That means if you could cut one jellyfish exactly in half, you would get two identical jellyfish halves.

Craig Clasen in Diver vs. Tiger Shark Video

CNN was full of this Diver vs. Tiger Shark Video today claming that Craig Clasen, one of the divers fought and killed 12 foot long tiger shark who attacked his friend diver. Following up on this mind-blowing story, I went to examine what was supposed to be the most bad ass video I’ve ever seen, only to see that CNN were once again full of baby poop.

Yes, it’s an overinflated story. It’s actually not even a story, just a no-adventure of a bunch of nobodies who over inflated it to get on TV. There was clearly no fight. Craig Clasen did not fight any shark. He was fighting half dead animal. I mean let’s be serious for one minute. A 12 foot long tiger shark vs. diver and diver wins killing a shark? Give me a break. Let me tell you what is not on the video and why it is not on the video. My theory is more likely what the real story went down as:

Bunch of blood thirsty animal killers armed with harpoons went to kill themselves a big fish to have something to brag about. You know – that’s one way to impress your boyfriend and get laid. Armed with harpoons, they dived in the ocean and waited around. Then a tiger shark showed up out of nowhere and may have got pretty close to one of the divers, but nothing happened. Shark did not bite diver’s penis off, he can still pleasure his boyfriend. Harpoon shots were fired at the shark, delivering lethal damage, but it did not kill him instantly. Bleeding profusely, tiger shark sort of floated around in agony knowing he was wounded so badly he could no longer fight back or swim away. That’s when Craig Clasen climbed on paralyzed animal and finished him off, which is what we see in the video.

Fighting the shark my ass. Craig Clasen – if you were actually fighting the tiger shark who was not hit several times with harpoon arrows, you would get pulled out of the ocean looking something like THIS or at least THIS. I mean seriously – there is a reason no actual “fight” as you claim was recorded on the video. Everything else was, just no sign of a fight. Are you really expecting me to believe you killed a 12 foot tiger shark? Yeah right…

Craig Clasen in Diver vs. Tiger Shark Video is below. Take a look and tell me if he’s not bullshitting us all. Just as additional info – the video was shot last June off the coast of New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico.
