Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010When huge Chinese freightliner Shinyo Sawako collided with Chinese fishing boat Lurongyu 2177 off Kyushu Island on Sunday, April 13, 2008, lives of 3 men were lost and another 13 went missing. Frightening moment just before collision of two ships was captured on camera and I’m now sharing this extraordinary photo with you.
Workers from the southern port of Kagoshima city on Japan’s Kyushu island confirmed that three lives were lost in the collision of the ships. Freighter Shinyo Sawako was a vessel owned by Hong Kong Special Administration Region, while the fishing boat Lurongyu 2177 belonged to the fishing company from Chinese mainland. The ships collided some 350 km south of Takarajima Island – one of the Tokara chain of islands south of Kyushu, Japan.
Much larger in size, freightliner Shinyo Sawako caused irreversible damage to Lurongyu 2177 which sank almost instantly. 18 crew members fell into the wild ocean waters of which only 2 were rescued. The photo capturing this horrifying moment is above.
