Michael Stipe: “I’m Gay” - R.E.M. Frontman Comes Out of the Closet

R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe has come out of the closet and admitted publically that he’s gay.

The decision to come out and make his sexual orientation public, after years of being vague about it has come after he realized that public statement would help other gay people who are struggling along admitting to their own homosexuality.

Michael Stipe told a U.S. rock magazine that when public figures speak openly about their sexuality, it helps everyday people who are in the same situation.

There have been countless rumors that Michael Stipe was dating Steven Morrissey but those were repeatedly denied by both parties.

R.E.M frontman also confessed that the song 7 Chinese brothers he wrote was reflecting his past experience when he broke up a dating couple and ended up dating each of them. He says it was a bad thing to do.
