Palindrome Day
January 2nd, 2010It’s Palindrome Day today. Let me explain what Palindrome Day is cause not even the picture above rings your bells. Palindrome Day only comes once a year, but only on some years. Palindrome Day is basically a game of numbers. If you write today’s date in the MM-DD-YYYY format, the back to front reading will be the same as front to back. A Palindrome by definition is a word or phrase that would be read the same forward and backwards. A Palindrome Day therefore is a day in the calendar with sequence of letters which would be read the same in either direction. Since today is January 2nd (aka 01-02), when put together without dashes with current year, you get 01022010 – a Palindrome Day. Will be read the same forward and backwards. Happy Palindrome Day to all.
Next Palindrome Day will come on November 2, 2011 and then on December 2, 2012. After that, there will be a long time without one. If you think about it, October 1st, 2001 was the first day that could be read as a mirror image in more than 600 years.
